FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - by our customers and community
1. What does „LED LIGHT” mean?
"LED" refers to curing under a UV LED lamp. "LIGHT" suggests a lighter, thinner layer on the nail plate compared to traditional UV gel formulas.
2. Is easy off a UV gel polish?
No, this is not a traditional UV gel polish – it’s a revolutionary LED LIGHT polish from Semilac. It requires curing under a UV LED lamp and can be easily removed with an acetone-free remover. The easy off formula is a mix of UV gel and traditional polish ingredients, with added natural-origin components.
3. Is easy off a classic polish?
No – it’s not a classic polish. It’s a durable LED LIGHT polish that cures under a UV LED lamp and removes easily with an acetone-free remover. The easy off formula is a blend of classic and UV gel polish ingredients plus natural-origin components. To apply properly, you’ll need easy off base, colour, and top. Each layer requires curing in lamp.
4. Do I need to use a base and top coat?
Yes. For durability and shine lasting up to 12 days, use easy off base, colour, and top. Cure each layer under a UV LED lamp: Base: 1 min Colour & Top: 2 min each
5. Is the use of a UV LED lamp necessary?
Yes. Each easy off product layer (base, colour, top) must be cured for best results: Base: 1 min Colour & Top: 2 min each
6. Why is it called Gel Polish and not Nail Polish?
Easy off polishes are long-lasting LED LIGHT Gel Polishes. The perception of easy off polishes is rooted in the UV gel system (curing under a UV LED lamp and a 3-step routine: base, colour, top), but with clearly defined differences: easy off removal (no acetone, no nail drill), a lightweight formula, and up to 12 days of wear, despite curing in a UV LED lamp.
7. Why does the easy off gel polish dry so quickly?
The easy off formula is a blend of UV gel and classic polish ingredients, enriched with natural-origin components. It’s based on volatile solvents (like traditional nail polishes), which means it starts drying immediately upon application. To enhance durability, shine, and achieve a smoothing effect on the nail surface, each layer must be cured under a UV LED lamp.
8. How can I remove the easy off gel polish?
Removal? It's never been this easy off. Place a cotton pad soaked with a nourishing, acetone-free remover on the nail for 1–2 minutes Gently wipe off the polish – no drill, no filing, no damage to the nail plate TIP: Use Semilac Wraps to make the process even easier
9. How long do I wait for it to dry without a lamp?
It is not recommended to use easy off without curing – the polish may remain sticky or fail to set properly. For an effective manicure with easy off polishes, each layer (base, color, and top) must be cured under a UV LED lamp, following the recommended curing times provided on the product peel-off label.
10. Why does the polish wear off at the free edge?
Polish wearing off at the free edge of the nail is most often caused by several technical factors related to application or daily use: 1) Not sealing the free edge – when painting the nail, it’s important to run the base, color, and top coat over the free edge of the nail. This step is often skipped, leading to faster wear. 2) Layer thickness issues – too thin of a layer may lack durability; too thick a layer may chip. 3) Insufficient degreasing of the nail plate – any leftover oils or moisture reduce adhesion. 4) Excessive exposure to water and detergents – frequent contact with water (e.g. dishwashing without gloves) can lead to faster polish wear. 5) Natural mechanical wear – everyday activities (typing, opening packages) can cause the polish to wear off from the tips.
11. What is the difference between Semilac LED LIGHT easy off and Semilac Bio Color?
Bio Color is a UV gel polish line that contains bio-based ingredients and requires a dedicated base and top coat. It is removed like a UV gel polish – with a nail drill or acetone. Semilac LED LIGHT gel polish easy off is a manicure revolution from Semilac – a long-lasting LED light gel polish that is easily removable with acetone-free remover. No filing, no nail drill, no acetone.
12. Why does it chip so quickly?
Proper application of easy off polishes should not cause premature chipping. Possible reasons for chipping include: too thick layer, not using the base or top coat, nail plate not properly degreased, nails that are too soft. When applied correctly, easy off polishes deliver up to 12 days of durability and shine.
13. Why does it streak?
The most common causes include applying polish unevenly or with a brush that’s too dry. Apply the polish quickly and in thin layers, using no more than 3 brush strokes – this is key to achieving a flawless finish. For satisfying coverage, it's essential to apply 2 coats of color. The top coat will smooth out any streaks.
14. Why is the polish sticky after curing?
After curing the top coat, wait a moment to let the temperature equalize with the surrounding environment – then you can proceed with your daily activities.
15. Why are there bubbles after curing?
Air bubbles can appear for several reasons:
• Layer too thick – it may not cure evenly, causing bubbles to form.
• Curing too quickly in a high-powered lamp – the layer may cure too fast, trapping air inside.
• Improper product preparation before application – shaking the bottle introduces air into the formula. Instead, gently roll the bottle between your hands before use.
Tip: Apply thin, even layers and make sure your lamp has the correct power output for the easy off gel polish system.
16. What’s in the formula?
The formula combines ingredients from both classic and UV gel polishes. It also contains natural-origin components. The full ingredient list is available on the product packaging and in the product sheet.
17. I’ve never used a polish cured in a lamp. Is it difficult?
No – the application is simple. Just follow the instructions: base, colour, top – each layer cured under a UV LED lamp. We recommend applying easy off polishes quickly and in thin layers for the best results.
18. What lamp is recommended for easy off polishes?
We recommend the Semilac 15W/24 UV LED lamp. The Semilac Travel 6W lamp is not recommended.
19. Can it be used during pregnancy/breastfeeding?
We would like to inform you that our polishes are manufactured in accordance to the highest standards of quality and safety. However, we would like to emphasize that our gel polishes have not been tested specifically for use during pregnancy. Therefore, even though our products comply with all applicable cosmetic regulations and standards, we cannot definitively confirm that they are completely safe for this group of users. Due to the lack of targeted studies on the safety of our gel polishes for pregnant women, we strongly recommend consulting a doctor before use. A medical consultation will allow for an individual health assessment and help you make an informed decision about using our products.
20. Is Semilac easy off compatible with other brands?
Semilac easy off is a separate product line, and compatibility with other products is not guaranteed – for best results, it is recommended to use it with the dedicated easy off base and top coat.
21. When is the polish fully cured?
The product may be vulnerable to damage for a few minutes after completing the manicure – this is the time needed for the layers to fully "stabilize."
22. Can a thick layer of top coat crack?
Yes – especially on soft nails. Always apply thin, even layers.
23. How long should I keep remover wraps on?
Hold an acetone-free remover-soaked pad on your nail for about 1–2 minutes, then gently wipe away in a circular motion.
24. Key comparison: UV gel polish vs. nail lacquer vs. easy off
Easy off | UV gel polish | Nail lacquer | |
---|---|---|---|
Application | 3 steps: easy off base, easy off colour, easy off top, use of UV lamp | 3 steps: base, colour, top, use of UV lamp | Colour can be used alone (base and top are not required) |
Durability | Up to 12 days | Up to 21 days | Up to 8 days |
Removal | No nail drill, no filing, no acetone – an acetone-free remover is enough | Nail drill, acetone | Acetone-free remover |
25. Can I use just the colour, without base or top coat?
It is not recommended – it will reduce durability and may cause chipping. We strongly advise performing the easy off manicure according to the application instructions to ensure up to 12 days of wear and shine. It is essential to use the Semilac easy off base, colour, and top, and cure each layer under a UV LED lamp.
26. Can it be applied over a UV gel base?
We recommend applying the product over the dedicated Semilac easy off base to achieve the desired, satisfying result.
27. What is the texture like?
The texture is light, more fluid than a UV gel polish – similar to a classic nail polish.
