Yay! It’s officially summer. Time to dust off those sandals and liven up your nail colour. But after a winter of woolly jumpers and long months of lockdown, are your feet ready to be on show?
We’ll hazard a guess at no! Most of us are guilty of letting our foot care go a little awry during the colder months. With feet stuffed into thick socks and boots, it’s easy to forget about them. Add to that the fact that this year beauticians and nail salons are only just re-opening after the Covid outbreak, and 2020 is turning out to be the year of neglected nails.

A little prep goes a long way
Cracked heels and dry skin are never a good look, we want our feet to appear soft and beautiful. But how do you achieve this at home?
It’s easy. Start with a gentle exfoliation to remove hard, dry skin – a pumice stone, foot scrub or exfoliating cream should do the job done nicely. Next moisturise, and don’t hold back! The skin on our feet is up to 10 times thicker than elsewhere on the body and needs far more intensive moisturising. In fact, it’s a good idea to invest in a rich foot cream - it will be money well spent.
To keep feet in tip top condition it’s important to make these steps part of your daily routine – especially the moisturising. Try to remember to moisturise every morning after your shower, or if you don’t have time, massage a little cream in every night before you go to sleep instead.
Summer shades
Now you’re on to the fun bit – making them look pretty!
